Hey I just got home and looked at this paper again and it says "he learned his first guitar licks from Robert Fripp of King Crimson", so maybe he didn't actually take lessons. I'm going to try to get a photo with him if I can. The place is pretty small.

I love Al.  One of my favourite artists to relax with...my fave Al lines are from "Year of the Cat":
On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre
Contemplating a crime
She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running
Like a watercolour in the rain

Wouldn't you love to stroll through a crowd that way???  And the image of "a silk dress running like a watercolor in the rain" is genius.  Love it!!

Now where the heck is Guy Harvey's Island Grill in Key West?

I hear Jimmy Buffet sneaks into the Chartroom and plays with an acoustic from time to time.

If I were ANYWHERE near,I'd go see Al. With the added bonus of a Buffet thrown in,
I'd be there in my white sports coat and a pink crustacean.

And I'm sure you would look dazzling! Though you may smell like low tide! LOL!

Tee hee, J.  First in line for "an early Buffet(t)"...are you a fan? Is it possible that you are a closet Parrothead, Johan?

I'm sure it's off of Duval Street. Anything worthwhile on Key West can be had by centering up on Duval and turning left or right. If I recall, this place where Mr. Stewart is playing used to be called the Parker House.

Guy Harvey's is right across from Sloppy's on Greene Street. I'm actually playing Sloppy's tonight, then at Guy Harveys on Saturday, then Al Stewart plays on Sunday. I guess you could say that I'm opening for him! The place is brand new, and never really busy yet, but I'm sure it'll be packed for the show.
It would be cool if he played at Sloppy Joe's because they have a live webcam. I play there every Tuesday afternoon and get e-mails all the time from people who watch. It's very interesting to find out who is watching.

First time caller/long time listener here.

I've enjoyed reading this guest book for a long time, and I've enjoyed seeing everyone's avatars. But I'm not quite sure how to interpret MarkHalpin's avatar.

Am I the only one a bit offended by that? Is it necessary?

Missclaire,

Methinks Mark likes to ruffle feathers sometimes.  That's all.  You just gave him what he wanted, so he'll probably change it now.  Thanks from me, anyway. I just think it's silly, but it's Mark.

I don't care for the animated avatars meself -- they distract a bit.  Not that anything can distract me from Johan
