Saw a mellotron MK2 recently for sale in local secondhand shop......not in the best of condition £199.I suppose if you want "the" sound you would ignore modern technology and invest.

I thought the guy - or perhaps is it his son now, was starting to make these wonderful little gizmos again - to order. I'm sure I read that somewhere recently.

Really? Son of Mellotron? Gawdelpus.
And Paul--the Hackett 400 didn't come from me. I did get one to David Byron in '76.

I'd love to get my hands on one, just to play the darn thing. Some people loved them, others (Tony Kaye comes to mind) hated them. But it's still a very influential sound. The flutes at the beginning of "Strawberry Fields" were done with a Mellotron. It's ironic that a lot of modern synths have samples of the Mellotron in their sound banks......a sampler, sampling a sampler.

Johan doesn't Geoff have one tucked away some where? I remember reading  that he used it for the pipe organ intro on "Daylight" at the live shows back the 80s. But then again what keyboard HASN'T Geoff owned!
