I am (was?) a fan of another band, that'll remain nameless. Paid $30 to join their fan club, liked them that much. I'm sorry I did so-the lack of respect shown for the fans from this band was a very unpleasant surprise. People that had grievances-legitimate ones too, like recieving back row concert tickets through the fan club presale-were met with obnoxious replies by the staff, unless the staff ignored them completely, which they did with some people having trouble buying merchandise from the website. Meet and greets? Not allowed to have the band sign anything and one picture taken-by them-which would be available for sale. Reports from ALL the meet and greets too were that the band acted like they would have rather been anywhere else. Some people defend the band, saying the band doesn't run the fan club, etc. I find this B.S. as it is the band's name on the fan club, and whatever happens there reflects back on them and you'd think they'd care enough to do something about it when the fan club is being run poorly! Especially since people have to pay to join! The band, IMO, has shot itself in their collective feet as I, for one, have lost respect for them and probably will not buy their next album-I don't really have much desire to support them anymore. I imagine that some others feel the same. I hadn't been on their website for a while (can't imagine why) and did so last night. Read a few posts, shook my head in disgust and came running back here!

Sorry this is so long-winded, but my point is, that band really makes it even clearer how much John does care about his fans. And I, for one, will certainly be buying everything John does in the future as well as continuing to collect the things from the past that I don't have.  Kim always answers our questions, and when I ordered stuff from this site, it arrived quickly without fuss, even though the CD had to be shipped from England. So Kim and John, thank you for being class acts.

Well said.  I think some artists are so far up their own backsides they're in danger of tickling their tonsils.  I've only met John once and he was very pleasant, and I've met Geoff a few times and he's a very down-to-earth pleasant guy.

I will echo your sentiments SS. - nothing can sour your feelings like being treated like you are nothing but a bother.

The lines in Agoura Hills and in Palm Desert were very long at the meet/greets. It sounded like John might have had a cold when he spoke, but he stayed until the end signing, even though some jerk 3 people in front of me asked him to sign his 3/4ASIA in Asia poster. I thought "oh man", but John had already shrugged it off by the time I arrived 30 secs later and was very affable. It was the perfect end to our long trip and encouraged us to travel again if necessary to see this talented, yet humble bunch of legends. The other guys were very nice as well and we have nothing but a great memory. Many people back in Calgary couldn't believe that they would come out at all and do a meet/greet, which shows how classy goes a long way.

In Las Vegas Geoff Downes was very surprised that I din't have a box of stuff for him to sign. Only had him sign the Icon 5 track EP and Carl signed my Asia,Alpha,Astra, & Mockba Laser Disc.

Thats way less than what I brought for John at the Sifi event last year.

Lets see John signed all King Crimson,UK,Icon & a few of his solo albums and all the Asia albums including the 2 Laser Disc.

All kidding aside: Maybe you should blame me for his soar hand.

I'm not gonna torture him too much next time.

All I'll be bringing if it's out by then is Asia Live In Las Vegas cd cover.

Well make that 2 I almost forgot Icon II Rubicon.

Anyway Love always

P.C.

John was nice enough to come out and sign for a lucky few when I met him.  This ain't his first rodeo, so he knows us loyal fans are mulling in the hallway!

It definitely does kick things up a few notches if you get to meet and/or talk to your favorite artists!  That's why this is one of my favorite sites and how come I've gone travelin' south to see a couple of ASIA gigs!

Sunshine: Your message sounds like the tribute band That I broke up in 2005.
Only one member of that band was cool and the rest just didn't seem to care.

That band had a clown for a singer and a manager who ripped people off.

ASIA's John Wetton , Geoff Downes , Carl Palmer & Steve Howe are the Greatest guys Ever and I hope they make another fantastic album for 2009 or 2010.

And everyone on the ASIA Tour Staff are very brite and carring people.

Josh and the other guy who made sure everybody got what the needed at the goody table.

Ricky for hanging out with me for a cup of Starbucks Coffee.

Martin for introducing me to Phil Carson and keeping close eye on me at the Vegas Show, He must have been making sure I wasn't gonna jump on stage and ask the crowd to get up off there feet and boogy.

And all the guestbookers I met in Vegas & Dallas.

P.S. I hope Jack Radio will post there ASIA Dallas pictures sometime soon.

So I see my original post was written in 2006-and I have kept true to my word-I have not supported that band in any way since. I refuse to buy their albums, go to their concerts or anything else. I had a good laugh when they wanted me to renew my fan club membership-how ironic that the fan club would make me realize a band was not worth my time or money. The albums/DVDs I already own are collecting dust for the most part, even though I do like their music a lot. I was fortunate enough to meet all 4 members of Asia for a meet and greet after they had played a two hour show. I didn't have to pay to do it, I didn't have to enter a lottery-all I had to do was be willing to stand in line. All four were quite nice to me, all four signed my tour book. On this site, I have asked JW many, many questions which he has been gracious enough to answer. And Kim is a class act all the way too. Here, I feel like part of a close, nutty (in a good way!) family, so here I will stay.  It's all about respect ...

Really?!!  With Crimson, of course!  Might you remember what venue?  I may have heard of it.  It could still be there.  If not, my parents might remember it.
Great to have you respond to me.  I was like a deer in the headlights when we met last month in Verona!
