AWESOME!!

That is *FANTASTIC* news, Brody. Finally!. Honestly, it was the knowledge that this show was recorded for posterity that inspired me to travel to San Francisco (from South Florida) for my wife's and my first time in 2014.

Although /ASIA\ did not return to San Francisco for the GRAVITAS Tour - their Beverly Hills / Los Angeles area show still made a close enough destination to SF to base an unforgettable roadtrip from.

The views across the city and the bay are utterly breathtaking! So (if indirectly) I owe my gratitude to John and /ASIA\ for an inspired bucket list checkmark.

"X X X - LIVE IN SAN FRANCISCO" will stand apart in the band's catalog of DVD's for a couple reasons...

1- This show in San Fran was where Steve Howe privately announced his retirement from /ASIA\ to his bandmates.

2- This California show will mark the first concert DVD from John and /ASIA\ recorded live in America. Our vast country has warmly embraced John & this band since the very beginning.

Looking forward to this new DVD!

- Douglas

And it looks like the entire show is being included on both the cd and dvd.  Now maybe I can delete the concert from my dvr!  I didn't see a blu-ray though on amazon, only a dvd?

Doug - I'm pretty sure it was broadcast live, but if not, I'm almost positive it wasn't edited.  I saw their show in Chicago right around the same time, and the setlist was identical, except the Chicago show didn't include Here Comes the Feeling and The Smile Has Left Your Eyes.  During the intermission of the SF show, they showed some pre-recorded interviews with the band.

Blu-Ray with Low Quality Audio!

Like the High Voltage Festival DVD, this was not remixed from the multitrack tapes. The audio is the same live mix broadcasted. This is the way the Frontiers Records saves a lot of money. Mix tracks cost a lot, but nothing that Frontier don't can pay. It's a lack of respect for consumers.

A that's not all:

Asia: Axis XXX – Live San Francisco [2015, Progressive Rock, Blu-ray]

Video: MPEG-4 AVC Video / 25000 kbps / 1080i / 29,970 fps / 16:9 / High Profile 4.1

Audio: Dolby Digital Audio / English / 192 kbps / 2.0 / 48 kHz / 192 kbps

Oh, man, that sucks a lot. Dolby 192kbps! thats reminds me low quality mp3 from the late 90's.

Here go an audio analysis from the Blu-ray track. I picked the song Time Again for example. As you can see, the frequency falls drastically at 16k. A lot of details are lost.

Not overly concerned about this. I realize that the human auditory range is from 20 to 20k. But we can't really hear that well over 16k, the more relevant frequencies are below that threshold. Now if there was such a drop off around 8k, I'd be worried. As long as the mids are clean (and warm) it won't be too much of an issue even for people with low quality systems. Hopefully they didn't "slam" the audio at the mastering stage which would be more of an issue because it causes ear fatigue.

Not overly concerned with the audio quality though I respect the analysis, it sounded good to me and my dog even sang along with it! Perhaps hidden messages like the Fabs for our four legged friends.

If you play the chorus on Face On The Bridge backwards is says go to the merchandise table.
