I love Steve Howe, I love Trey Anastasio, I love Alex Zivojinovich, I love Jimi Hendrix, I love Deaner, Zappa, Stevie Vaughn, Eletric Sammy, and David Gilmour...

The best guitarist  I've ever seen is Buckethead.  The guy can cover an entire scale with one hand.  I've never seen another guitariast that can do that.... ever,.. ever...

So he is so far beyond and that's good.. I'll still be on rail for Steve Howe "Phoenix" tour though.

From Ozzy Osbourne

I tried out that Buckethead guy. I met with him and asked him to work with me but only if he got rid of the (Curse word) bucket. So I came back a bit later and he's wearing this green (Curse word) Martian's-hat thing! I said, 'Look, just be yourself'. He told me his name was Brian, so I said that's what I'd call him. He says, 'No one calls me Brian except my mother'. So I said, 'Pretend I'm your mum then!'. I haven't even got out of the room and I'm already playing (Curse word) mind games with the guy. What happens if one day he's gone and there's a note saying, 'I've been beamed up'? Don't get me wrong, he's a great player. He plays like a (Curse word).

"Big B" got most of his technique from (my dear departed friend)SHAWN LANE, studying with Paul Gilbert, jamming with my bud Joey Tafolla (another Orange County native!) and listening to Bootsy Collins and P-Funk.  Bucket is great and to see him live.  His new band: SCIENCE FICTION has him, BRAIN on drums, Bootsy on Bass & Vocals, Gary "Mudbone" Cooper on keys.  Almost Praxis, but not quite, should be killer.

Oh.. I've seen TONS of incarnations of the Bucket...

Along with Asia projects, he is one of the few artists that GUARANTEE a ticket sold when they come to town, and also I will travel to see

The guy is MIND-MELTING/BLOWING/BOGGLING...

It looks like he will be at least doing SOME shows again this summer, so I hope to get my fix.

He is able to do something which even my fine, PHINE friend Mr. Steven Howe is not able to do.

He can span an entire scale with one hand.  I don't I've ever seen ANY other guitarist do that honestly.

And JG:  Unfortunately that is that old man Ozzy Osbourne's loss.. he should probably get over himself...

Big B could play circles around Randy Rhodes or Zack Wilde before lunch time even starts, and still have the rest of the day to wear whatever sort of mask he damn well pleases

This is just st00pifying...

At this point, with the level of skill and grace he plays this mind-bending solo with, I think he is just mocking the very instrument he holds in his hands

Tyler: From what I've noticed in the last few weeks that I've been on this guestboard, is that it's a pretty nice friendly group of people. There's no need to be confrontational in a hard derogatory way. I think there's plenty of room in this world to enjoy other guitarists besides SH?

TW:  Responsible assessment.

I will grant you that that particular clip doesn't represent the type of melodic contribution that say, "Heat of the Music" or "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes" does.

I was more posting in the vein of demonstrating the type of technical skills B has.

He is definately a talented music with a good sense of musical taste although.  If you'd prefer some of his more melodic work, I'd be happy to send you some/might post some in this thread in the future.

Also.. I wouldn't want to let this opportunity fleet away without taking advantage of it.. who are some of your favorite guitarists TylerWoods?

peace Phan.

Obviously he can play anything. I just cannot get past the (Kentucky Fried Chicken Bucket) on his head, lol. Its extremely hard to take anyone seriously with such a gimmick, but I'll give it another try...Peace back at ya

yeah... that's definately kinda weird.

Apparently you aren't the only one who feels that way (see the post Re: Ozzy up above).

I don't know the guy personally.. God knows I would LOVE to have a sit-down with him...

I might just be spinning it in my own direction, but for me the mask has always been a way to focus _MORE_ on the music...

It doesn't matter how attractive he is, or how sexy and flashy the clothes he is wearing on stage are.  It's about the music that is coming off his fingertips and out his speakers.

Well anyway.. that is probably all bullshit, but he is certainly very talented, and has some very pretty songs I will try to hook up sometime.
