To all.....first, a thank you to all of you who have placed bids in our phone call auction or have made a donation to this website. We are constantly working to make your website experience a pleasant one. Having said that, I must remind some of you that this website also serves as the Internet "home" of John Wetton. Anyone from a casual fan to someone wishing to book John for a gig can (and do) visit here. So you can imagine why we want to "reboot" the guestbook, so to speak, and refocus the discussions. One step is to eliminate the "random" threads. While they originally served as a place to discuss other music, some have since disintegrated into smut talk about the musicians....to put it bluntly! Other "random" discussions have become so personal that they really have no place here. I apologize if any of you feel we're taking away some of your freedom for discussions, but we pay for the guestbook space you use! We provide for PMs (personal messages) between fans, so please use that option to share details of your personal life, your other concerts, etc. If you're writing about John (in a respectable manner) then your post is welcome. If it's not about John, then please think twice about posting. If any of you have any questions about a post or its content, you can always e-mail me for an opinion.
Thank you.

I think this a g00d idea and also bad idea.. l00k I love John Wetton and always have the focus to talk about him and/or the general discussion of this board but I also love the people I have come to meet and know on this site as well.. If I have a cool link to a web site or article then I would like to share that with John and the community... I also think its nice when John responds to threads that are not about his music or anything about him it makes us more aware that John is a cool and caring pers0n and makes him that much more in touch with his fans!!  that is so cool IMHO he is so important to us all in our lives in one way or another...   If U are asking us to just post about John and AsiA and iCon all John Wetton projects that's is fine and that is why I am and i'm sure why others are here as well but I also feel that the need to censor some thing is g0nna take alot of the character of this place away!! .just my .02. Peace and Love!!

Sammy.....thanks for the reply. I appreciate what you're saying. The biggest problem is some fans taking things to such extremes that both John and I are uncomfortable with the direction. That shouldn't be the case. I have no problem with fans sharing links, etc. but let's keep the focus. Thanks!

whatever you do is fine with me Kim. I think everyone comes here because of John. Removing random threads isn't a big deal because John is still here

I don't think it's a bad idea to delete some of the older threads, but perhaps some of the "best of " Johan moments could be archived for prosperity before you hit the delete button.  Things like where he explains inspiration for songs,  funny antidotes, ect..

Would it help to conserve space on here if we all individually cleaned out all old PM's that might be sitting out in our PM boxes?  Just a thought.

MK.....no, that type of storage isn't the real issue here. I encourage PMs because it keeps the more personal fan-to-fan messages off the GB.

Kim, hopefully a simple suggestion here. One of the tech forums I visit has only pinned topics, and doesn't really allow the members to create their own threads mainly because a simple question of XP vs. VISTA would degenerate into personal attacks after about the 10th post. The moderators over there had no choice.

Not that you want to limit people's creativity and input, but maybe start with several topics that you and John feel comfortable with similar to what we have now like Ram Heaven and I love Beatles etc.but that also really mainly pertain to John and expand on those.

Just a thought.

emwhy....a few people have suggested a similar solution, and it's one of many we're considering. Thanks.

IMHO I think it would help tremendously if there was some consistency as to what is allowed and what isn't. It isn't a simple matter of John-related vs. OT posts.

Soccer is fine to discuss -- in detail -- yet other sports are not.  The Beatles get their own thread, yet discussion of another band that lasts more than 5 posts is frowned upon.  A post about an article relating to a man John worked with years ago is ok, yet a post about Carl Palmer, who John is actively writing and touring with NOW,  gets the GB equivalent of a slap of the wrist and is put into random notes.  Birthday wishes either get their own thread, get moved to random notes, or deleted all together.   "Smut" is apparently not allowed, yet...it is.  How many threads have included posts with not-so-subtle innuendo and double entendres that are not anymore "clean" than what was said about Steve and Chris?  I truly don't understand how those posts cross the line when so many others have not.

It is absolutely your site to run the way you wish. But it is so arbitrary to me as to what is and isn't allowed.  If you really want this GB to be about John and John only then by all means delete the posts and threads that do not meet the guidelines and continue to enforce them consistently. Then this might be the kind of site you really want it to be.

I always read and check up on John and his  workload/ output daily, I am " unfortunately" to some a blunt talker, but what is it that has really peed you all off, lets have a definite guide which cannot be moved, and exactly which posts or posters have caused this situation, I have followed John for 30years, I still will but you have got to come and and be direct to who these problems appertain too. Respect for all Website work so far, hope it all resolves peacefully, Mike

I will abide by whatever your wishes are Kim.  I try to keep my posts to a minimum.  It is nice to have up to date information on Mr. Wetton and to be able to share in the joy of being a fan of his music.  Thanks for keeping us informed.

I think it's agood idea to clean house as you say. I 'tune in' here to keep up with John and his activities and occassionally inquire as to his opinions/ insights. More often than not it seems I see a lot of threads and/ or discussions that are way out in left field as far as John Wetton is concerned, if they're even in the ballpark. I've been guilty of posting in some superfluous threads, but I look forward to perhaps some more relevant topix in the future.
