...I was in Best Buy earlier today buying some software and business stuff when I wandered over to the CD section.  I picked up the new Coldplay and noticed that there was no longer a Phoenix display.

I knew immediately that this must have been an honest mistake by the store management so I helped out and placed a few copies of Phoenix in the "New Release" display as well as in the front display next to cashiers.

I did it just for some giggles more than anything.  I doubt I will be back at the store anytime soon.  I just wonder if anyone noticed.

I actually did that a hundred times, for the debut and Alpha. From Notre Dame to Chicago, every store that carried "RECORDS" got the Asia shuffle from me. I would put Asia in the #1 spot in the top selling albums, for a few years, over and over again

"Please give us an update!"    ????

Moving on, I always had a good time grabbing Asia CDs and planting them at the front of the As or putting them on a Best Sellers display. I can't say I ever offered an update with revised sales figures, but I digress.  It was only a momentary bit of mindless fun, not a real attempt at marketing the band.

Kind of funny... I remember a small independent record store in Tulsa, OK that always had ASIA albums in the best seller slots years after the albums had been released.   Hmmmmmmm...

Barnes & Noble had it displayed in my local store in the New release section as of last week

They were tossing a Phoenix promo in Coconuts. I told the kid I wanted it and he called me last week and held it for me for a small pittance. Pretty nice, I have it in my office.

Gee I can only wonder why and who kept them there for so long.

I can remember when I used to go roller skating and the owner of the roller rink would come in and overtake the dj and put on Eye To Eye from the Alpha album.

That guy was cool.

All of the big box stores seem to have Phoenix.  Since a major has it in the States, it's easier to get it in there than with Renaissance, though some newer indies are available at the chains.
