Took my daughter to college; when we arrived many hours after we set out, we were taken to her dorm. A quad arrangement. A kid had some large speakers blasting out into the yard. I think we were there for less than five minutes when the opening guitar belted out and the glorious booming of John's voice echoed throughout. She looked at me and said it was meant to be....
As with most things, your music has marked many moments in my life. Thank you John.

You're welcome, Nerkoe.I'm only sorry it couldn't have been the more appropriate 'Don't Cry'.

LOL

Maybe you can do an annual six-string tour of college dorms, John...?

I remember John Mellencamp did that, actually, about 10 years ago. Unannounced. He spent like 3 weeks, just "showing up" on random U.S. college campuses with an acoustic guitar... tune it up, and let the birds fly!

"I never meant to be so bad to you..." just NEVER gets outdated, y'know?

Great story that HOTM is still being played on college campuses 30 years later!

I was a college freshman "in 82" and the album was huge.  You could not attend a party without HOTM, OTWT or SS as part of the evening's soundtrack.

The album was such a welcome musical relief coming at the end of the pop disco era.

My last year of high school was 1990-91... and ended with the beginning of the RETURN of the pop-disco era (part deux!): MILLI VANILLI.

Ugh man... LOL.

But thank God (thank JOHN?) - We Tampa, Florida fans of rock radio in my senior class BEGAN that school year with a fresh blast from our car speakers that declared, "DAYS LIKE THESE, I FEEL LIKE I CAN CHANGE THE WORLD!"

It took me 20 YEARS, and a flight from Florida to New York to hear it performed LIVE... but the OMEGA Tour saw John reply to my "wishlist" with a simple reply of "We played 'Days Like These' last night", as the prelude to my adventure...

Worth it?

YEAH.

Of all the wonderful hits from Asia. HOTM will always be my #1.
Because that's when this lovely group was discovered.
Besides it's still a thrill to hear and to sing along with at the concerts.

HOTM was the birth of prog pop. It jumped out of the radio like nothing before it, totally new, original and a great new venture from guys we had known for years and hoped would attain this notoriety and success in their past works that never did. It was like vindication and "Hey, remember that guy I told you who used to be in UK, well listen...to...this..."

I recently read an article about the top reasons people give for having whoopee (this is a family board, no?).  #1 Reason?  I was "in the heat of the moment."

LOL Hey, why NOT. As long as the equipment works..................

(If "John Cougar" can hit college dorms & sorority houses with his wood firmly in hand, playing his instrument, singing his balladry from campus to campus...)

I mean, if THAT guy can keep his finger on the trigger... etc etc etc... LOL.

Yes. Do bring your raincoat, sir.

...dang and my college doesn't have dorms...

Yikes ... meant edit - hit delete - now this is tricky ... after AA's comments.

If a woman wears a raincoat it's sexy - how come when a guy does it - they call the cops ... terrible double standard that.
