a retro or Best of regarding the last 3 studio albums? I was thinking about this before the news came down about the lineup change which would make it more appropriate now...

I am sure we can come with a list of ten possible tracks...

A "Best of" collection is hard to compile as it's more subjective than a "Greatest Hits".  My favorites will be different from your favorites, etc.  Since (the real) Asia is one of the few artists where I can say I enjoy all their songs, I find it easier and more satisfying to just select Asia as the artist and then select all songs (random) on my iPod.  That way I enjoy being surprised by the next song and it keeps the library fresh.

What I find amazing about this is how songs from the last 3 albums intermix so well with the songs from the first 3 albums.  It's as if time stood still between 1986-2006!

Id rather look forward to the new material and Valkyrie and a remix/master of Alpha!
If you're a fan why would you need a best of if youve got the last 3 albums ? If you have them on MP3 you can make your own best of!
How would Frontiers make any money out of such an Album?

Yes mark, you're right. And there're already 3 live album after the reunion, i think a 'best of' would be quite useless.

I think I only have 'best of' albums after all my cds got stolen 20 years back and couldn't get the original stuff

I had about 50 CDs stolen out of my car in the early 90s when I had it valet parked outside a Chicago restaurant.  Even then, my insurance company only valued each CD at $2.00 and it fell well below my deductable.  Asia/Alpha/Astra were included...

I had the discs loaded in one of those storage books so they only got the discs and not the jewel cases.  I eventually threw them away, however kept the booklets/covers.

I agree for longtime fans why bother vs. newer material being released but for a new fan, a best of or collection is a great way to invest...In my case, I hate to admit this but I am just now getting into Genesis as in actually buying their CDs...I always listened but never owned anything other than Three Sides Live, and to start I bought the Platinum Collection and then buying CDs I liked...I have no idea where it came from, I just all of a sudden liked Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel's vocals ...So I don't know, sometimes it is overwhelming to dive in and buy everything from a band you like when they have a long history.

I agree, Gina.

I actually really ENJOY purchasing "greatest hits" collections - both from artists I DO own a lot of discs from, AND as an intro to newer acts.
