Today is 30 years John Lennon is gone. I was just 15 years old when I heard the news. I was just getting into music and understanding music theory. I was very heavy into the Beatles. What captured me about the Beatles songs were they were superbly written. They said things that I and many fans wanted in songs. Beautiful arrangements and lyrics that said what many of us felt towards another human being. It sometimes crosses my mind from time to time if John Lennon did live in today's world what would he have written? Also..One of the biggest questions that I ask many of you ...Do you think the Beatles would have gotten back together? I do. I would have said at least for a benefit concert.

Yes, a day to celebrate the music of John Lennon.  In answer to your question, I definitely think the Beatles would have gotten back together.  Probably to record and perhaps for some benefit concerts.  John was a great humanitarian and I'm sure the Live Aid initiative during the 80s as well as some of the other worldwide events would have brought them back together.

What I find more amazing is the influence the Beatles had on other artists.  Obviously ELO and Cheap Trick come to mind, however even harder-edge rockers tip their caps to the musical direction.  Sgt. Peppers was probably my first venture into progressive rock.

Hi Allen,
I agree with you...The Beatles would have been there at Live Aid.

I'm focusing today on the joy, John's music and legacy has brought to my life.  By now...The Beatles are probably a part of my DNA.  There was an incredible amount of heart-break I experienced that day...that extended far beyond.....

...and I also believe John and his "mates" would have reunited at some point..as time heals.  He and Paul were already mending things....His influence is still here, and will linger on.

This is how most of us heard the news:

Chilling...even 30 years later.

I made it a point today to listen to alot of Lennon music - I went to Strawberry Fields in October (not the 1st time there) anyway - how haunting the Dakota's are to this day, if you are there, you seem to visualize the murder and the tears just well up.

And for some reason, I did pull out my Revolver .............. (gotja) - I am talking about the CD !!
song stuck in my head now is; And your bird can sing !!

PS .. yep, I think there would have been a reunion of some sort had Lennon still been alive.
