Since this is officially the Led Zep thread...

There is a GREAT cover feature on Jonesy in the latest edition of Bass Player magazine.  And I giggled a bit when I noticed the title of the article, which was THE RETURN OF THE KING.

(I'm an ardent LotR/Tolkien fan, but I suppose that's apparent...)

Okay, now we know that there are a few bass-playing virtuosos out there (*cough*Johan*cough*) but this is an arse-kicking feature that I highly recommend to all LZ fans.

Now I know where my niece will be traveling in June!  I can't imagine her missing this opportunity.  I'd eagerly state that I'd accompany her but I was just rooked out of airfare to the Midwest by a boorish human being (enough said about him), hence I am "eating" an airline ticket worth nearly $400.  But I hope that everyone else who sees LZ in their current glory has a great time!

Bonnaroo and Zep? Seems like an odd fit. I thought Percy would still be out with Alison Sour-Krauss in June. Wait and see I suppose.

Right now, it's all about Asia...Bring on the boys!

JK, their (Percy's and Alison's) album is incredibly cool!  Give it a whirl.  You might like it...unless, of course, you've already heard it and hate it with a passion.  Anyway, there might be a break in his touring schedule with Alison to headline Bonaroo with the other Zep lads.

(Bonaroo also causes me to miss those early Lollapalooza festivals where I had some of the merriest days of my early 20s...)

Now, as for Asia...BRING ON THE PHOENIX!

I have the Plant/Krauss album and I love it. Odd pairing but it absolutely works so I appreciate the adventurous nature of the endeavor. While I have nothing but love for old Zep, I cannot see them making new music together. Sort of like the Police and Genesis, I think that ship has sailed. I love the fact that Asia is not only out there on tour but are making new, contemporary music and doing it the way bands used to do it while using the new mediums available to them to take their songs to the masses. I love that!

I understand completely.  I've officially declared myself as part of the "neither here nor there" camp as I'm open to a tour and even a new album from the current incarnation of Zep -- but I'm also faithful to the original Zep as another part of yours truly feels with certainty that they shouldn't tread that road again.  Jason's great but I miss Bonzo.  Really, my perspective depends on the day and my mood!  (I felt similarly about The Police, and I was always an avid fan of theirs as well.  In regards to Genesis, I wanted a full-scale quintet reunion but when I discovered that it was the trio, I didn't really care anymore.)  Asia's doing it the RIGHT way, however!  I concur with you!

And, on a final note about the individual Zep members' solo endeavors, I'll admit freely that I absolutely love Plant's and Jones' work and consequent tours.  I can't rightly state that I've been fond of Page's post-Zep projects but that's just my opinion.  (I DID see him with the Black Crowes and really enjoyed the high energy of the show.)
