Someone asked me after the Forum what I do if I forget lyrics. This very rarely happens as I have some of the more elusive ones sequenced into my onstage 'brain' , however, if all else fails, I sing 'kiss my arse, because I come from Derby'. That usually does the trick.

Johan; I don't know how you can remember all of the bass lines and the lyrics as well as interact with the audience and with the other band members, all at the same time.  Those who simply just sing must get "bored".

Now *that* was a great Asia show

I was the noisy one on the second row, in front of Geoff, waving my arms about, generally singing & having a great time.
It was so wonderful to be that close to you guys, watching you perform - my heroes from the early 80s when I was still at school.

When I bought the tickets (seconds after they went on sale) they were listed as "downstairs standing". Later on, I got a call from a nice lady saying the venue will be fully seated (I've been going to the forum since the 80s & this is the first time I'd heard of it. I know there had been some mention of tired feet at an earlier London Asia gig, so I suspect this was the reason). Anyway hats off to them, 'cos I guess seats were allocated on time of purchase, as I got Row B tickets - I was over the moon!

It's great to hear already of the possibility/rumour of you guys doing it all again at the Forum.
I, cheekily, have one request: Can you speak nicely to Steve, & play some stuff from Astra too? There are some tunes on there that would work really well live (Go, Rock & Roll Dream, Voice Of America, etc.)

Anyway, ace performance, you guys are great. Looking forward to the next time already
cheers,
Paul

Actually, you would have heard all three of those Astra songs just down the street from the Forum at our iCon St.Mary-le-Bow show in February. Glad you liked the Asia show, we really enjoyed it.

Ah, of course. I did read somewhere online that you'd done some Astra songs in the iCon gigs. I really should've got along to that.

The thing is, I'm in enough trouble with my good lady wife as it is, for buying too many concert tickets.
There are so many bands that I like reforming right now. It seems the music industry has noticed that live music is one of the few parts of the industry that actually makes money these days!

Then try going to half as many shows, and taking the good woman with you. If you'd only seen iCon and ASIA this year you'd have witnessed two really brill shows, and you'd have a home life as well. It's not rocket science.

  that's me told!

It's not the time (we still do almost everything together after over 20 years - unlike many couples we know), it's the cost. She wants me to squander it all on food & clothes for our kids...!

All that said, my wife came with me to Asia at a previous gig & really enjoyed it. She got to liking Asia when I made her a tape back in 1987, when she was still my girlfriend...

Awwwwwwwwwwww.  Now THAT was love, back in 1987!  I've kept all the tapes I ever got...and methinks there may even be some Asia on one....or UK, I can't remember. Sigh.

Well - thanks to Mr W and the rest of the gents from Asia last year in Falmouth, my hubby now has a more than willing companion to accompany him to most  of the concerts he enjoys going to - gave me a kick start to really enjoying live music!   He has yet to persuade me on the merits of attending a Radiohead gig however ...  (Apologies to any afficianados out there).

Off to Ultravox tonight at Plymouth Pavilions and Mr Wakeman at Hampton Court on Saturday ....

In our house it is the reverse - I am the one trying to get my husband to come with *me*. Things are falling nicely into place for the summer though. It looks like he will finally get to see Asia.
