Johan

I was just wondering if you had ever played My Own Time live?  In my opinion, its one of the best songs you and Mr. Downes have written.  I was thinking maybe it would sound great in an acoustic setting.  Anyhoo - just a thought.

I'd like to see them do a few Astra tunes with rewritten guitar parts by Steve Howe.  I think he could add so much to those songs. Nothing personal to Mandy Mayer but to me SH is in his own dimension as a guitarist.

We played 'My Own Time' in 1983 for several shows. It would be really good to play these days because of GD's toe.

Astra is a complete entity. I still think it's really a good album. We'll never have Mike Stone again so if you like it,appreciate it for what it is. Both guitar players are great in their individual firmaments----after that it's personal taste, but 'Phoenix' could have not come without 'Astra','Rock of Faith','Icon'and more recently 'Rubicon'. They all led us to what we have now.

Funny you mention that John, because Never Again reminds me of Too late.

Not that they sound anything alike, but there is something that made me feel that NA could have been on Astra.

I do give credit to Mandy, as he had a cool edge to his style that fit perfectly in Asia, despite being absolutely nothing like SH.

On a side note, here where I live they constantly play commercials for Bank Of America.  I always start humming Bank of America, ooh America....

The song would be PERFECT for those commercials.

Astra is a great recording and I think was very under appreciated when it came out. What I meant though was, when Yes put out the HOB DVD Steve played on Owner of a lonely heart and added a smokin guitar part to it. Now of course it's up to Steve if he was interested in playing songs he didn't record? I just think it would be a great surprise to hear what he would do with it?
