I had never heard of Aranis until they were announced for NEARfest and never heard any of their music until that Friday night they played. I was very pleasantly surprised by them; picked up two of their albums between theirs and Van der Graaf's set. The Twelfth Nights guys were great fun to chat with and I love their slightly punkish/new waveish take on the early 80's prog sound that ,I believe, set them apart from their contemporaries like Marillion and Pallas. What more can be said about U.K.? They just flat out(cliche time) rocked!

This was posted on Facebook yesterday -- Kevin Feeley took the photo, and Greg "Javaman" Jones writes the comments. -- ABS

The culmination of my coffee brewing career - John Wetton in the coffee room at NEARfest Apocalypse, enjoying a cup of El Salvador Andalucia CoE, the bag for which can be seen on the counter in the background. I think I cried "tears of joy, at the birth of a brother".

Definitely brought a smile to my face!  Some of the best moments of the weekend were enjoying that coffee.  The non-musical moments, that is.

Actually, I'm marking The Duke's thesis.
The briefcase contains our heart medication for the weekend.

...and if that briefcase was misplaced, The Duke would most definitely need more than his heart medication!
