I was reading the lyrics in the CD booklet and noticed that the following lyrics printed after the second verse are not used...

"This is the day, the day of liberation - The time for life, for new regeneration."

Instead the lyrics after the first verse are used...

"This is the day, the day of my ascendance - The time for life, a time for independence."

I've noticed this in other CD releases with other artists and I am curious as to why this happens.  Does the artist (Johan) simply change their minds about singing the lyrics after they have been submitted to record label or are the lyrics edited/mixed out or did the record label production team simply not listen to the words?

...a deep thought for this Monday.

Hoping for a safe Memorial Day to all US fans.

Also, on 'Heroine' the booklet says "washing my Demons from me", yet John sings "washing all Torment from me" on the actual recording . The use of 'Torment', is much better suited.

I always wondered the same thing about "All the gold in Reno (Vegas) won't bring Caesar back from dead" and "When evening comes, we sit and watch the features (veejays)."  "Vegas" and "veejays" are sung but "Reno" and "features" are printed.  Also, if I remember correctly, the lyrics from the middle eight of The Heat Goes On were left off the LP and cassette sleeves entirely.  I always wondered if the middle eight was written after the lyrics were submitted for printing or it was just a printing error.

Respectfully,
Dennis

I'm usually in very close contact with the artwork guys(compositors),but lyrics can change dozens of times before  the final cut,so it's my fault for not checking the last draft.I do think the improvements are better than the previous. Progress is mygoal, not perfection.

I asked Johan about "features" vs. "VJs" some time ago - check out the Misheard Lyrics thread from a while back . Earlier posts in that thread also talk about "catch the pearl" from HOTM.

There were no lyrics on our first album,so they're all aural estimates, and not always faithful.

I agree.  I like the versions sung.  Thanks for the insight.
