Some lady came in and bought a Journey cd.
I told her they found a new singer and her response was Journey isn't Journey without Steve Perry.

I like Steve Perry's voice, but I always preferred Gregg Rolie's vocals.  (sowwy)

Hey BB, I agree with you that Gregg Rolie was great.  I like Steve Perry as well, but Journey was really two different bands with Rolie at lead vocals and with Perry at lead vocals.  The early Journey albums are a good listen, very different from the Perry albums.  So was The Storm, which Rolie did with bassist Ross Valory post-Journey.

Yep, I definitely agree to that!  When Gregg handled all the lead vocals, the music was definitely more "spacey" sounding.  I liked it!

And nice try, DRAZEN, but Jeff Scott Soto is touring with Tempestt.

The Steve who sings on the Live DVD did a great job and all,but they could never produce an album worth listening to.

I would be happy if they could get the band back together that everbody I know loved, cause this Journey we got now isn't taking us anywhere far as I'm concerned.

Rollie and Jonathan Cain are both great keyboardist,so I'd keep them both in and just get the 2 original Steve's back in.

Yeppers, the early Journey albums with Rolie on vocals and keys were quite different from the later albums with Perry on vocals and Cain on keys.  I think that both incarnations of the band are great, though some would argue that the latter-day Journey could be considered "corporate rock."  If that's the case, then they're probably the only "corporate rock" band I like!

And, of course, I love Santana...where Journey actually originated between Rolie and Schon.

Most of these have been around a couple of years...

Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother
Cee-Lo of Gnarls Barkley
Matt Bellamy of Muse
Tom Chaplin of Keane
Chester Bennington of Linkin Park
Rivers Cuomo of Weezer
Emerson Hart ex-of Tonic

I have been listening to a lot of fine female singers as of late c/o my daughter's influence...

Ingrid Michaelson
KT Tunstall
Colbie Calliat
Sara Bareilles

These four are very new, time will tell whether they have the legs for the long haul.
