I was just wondering if anyone could prescribe any good newer bands with great vocalists? Anytime I hear a newer band today they all seem to sound like Hootie and the Blowfish or like they're trying to sound like REM? Now sure we can all name great vocalists that came before Johan, Mercury, Rogers, Gramm, Delp just to name a small few. I'm looking for the hidden gems out there that I never heard of. It just seems to me that theres no originality out there anymore?

Floyd for one. but i have been a fan of Chris Cornell for many years. never seen him live, but i have a few Soundgarden/Audioslave cds. but we can go on and on about this. all of us here have eclectic tastes in music. i would tell you to go to http://progpalaceradio.com . April has a hand in it, and it is a great prog rock station. if you want anything it is there.

Foo Fighters ROCK !  They have a totally original sound and Dave Grohl is one of the best out there today.

I don't even have to think about this. Tom Chaplin of Keane. I love this guy. I love this band. On top of their own music, which I cannot gush enough about, they have done some remarkable covers. They have covered people as varied as Queen, Rufus Wainwright, and Destiny's Child. And yet somehow he makes ALL of it sound good. That is why I think he is the best of the younger guys out there.

As of late, I'm also on a bit of a Snow Patrol kick and I think Gary Lightbody has a great voice as well. It isn't a powerhouse kind of voice but more soothing. That is the best way I can describe his voice. And I love it.

I love that song. According to my iTunes "most played" list I have listened to that song more than any other (at least since I got this computer a year ago).

Muse's Matt Bellamy has a voice ideally suited to their style of rock...anyone seen them live?

...Hottie and the Blowfish...
   ^^^^

So apparently Mr. Rucker has been replaced?

Check these guys out - they evolved out of The Refreshments.  Roger Clyne's vocals certainly aren't as pure as Johan's, but he sings with a lot of emotion and writes great songs.

I like some of Britney's stuff. The production on some of her songs is nothing short of mega.Dunno who does it,but it's really good.
I also heard a J.Timberland song the other day which I thought was M.Jacko around 'Thriller'period.ust goes to show.Anyway, don't feel bad about liking good stuff,Paulie dude.
