I spent the last weekend at the Frontiers Festival in Milan, and talking here and there I heard there are 2 Asia live albums floating in air for this year. And that 2016 could see something more important....I've already started prayin' (4 a miracle)

John posted this on his Twitter account today:

@arkangel2605: This morning,I have a strong appetite to make another ASIA CD with same personnel as GRAVITAS. Commence writing process with @asiageoff .

Certainly a way's off to be sure but good news for the future of Asia.

Thank you for the news scoops on John and the band, JK and Gatto. Terrific! I suppose the 2 live CDs / DVDs on the docket are:

1- /ASIA\ - "X X X" Tour 2012 - Live in San Francisco, CA

2- /ASIA\ - 2013 w/Plovdiv Symphony Orchestra - Live in Plovdiv, Bulgaria

I am very excited. I know both were pro-shot for video, so it makes sense that those would see the light of day soon. Although it didn't get as much publicity as the Plovdiv and San Fran shows - the band also allowed PBS to televise the Wilmington, DE show in 2012 too from the "X X X" tour.

Some exciting projects for us to look forward to, hopefully in the 2015 calendar year!

(CODA: A QUESTION, if anybody knows the answer... did /ASIA\ allow *any* of their GRAVITAS 2014 Tour shows to be pro-shot for a concert DVD...??? God, I hope so. John & Sam were remarkable on last year's tour. I would LOVE to re-live that setlist with "Valkyrie" live in my living room.)

Hi Gatto!   How was that show??  Did you like Burning Rain?  Joe Lynn Turner?  How was Lynch Mob?   Was the new line up good?  Great?  Did George shred??  [biggrin]

Did you talk to Serafino?   Curious to see what other "Gossip" was floating around, if you don't mind sharing?   Thanks, Gatto!!

Hey Double A!  Let's not also forget that John (did promise?)  he was at some point gonna go through the video footage from his 2012 Japanese solo tour. (was it really THAT LONG ago???) I am still waiting for that too come out!

My wish for the next Asia release would be that it would be written more "organically", knowing that John once recently said during the recording process of a recent release that he did not like this way of recording, or some sorts.

I know times have changed where each musician records their piece and uploads somewhere, but there is a certain "magic" that gets lost by not having all 4 members add parts in the heat of the moment...

Just my 2 cents from an absolutely true blue Asia/Wetton fan...

Hi Jorge!
The festival was very good, 2 bands that overcame everybody else: swedish hard rockers Eclipse and Jim Peterik's Pride Of Lions... In my opinion Burning Rain suffered a little lack of personality, 1 hour and 3 covers (Led Zep, W'snake & Montrose), with Doug Aldrich stealing the whole scene with his solos... Lynch Mob is a great live band, Oni Logan sang very well. George is really static on the stage but he 'shreded' a lot, especially on a burning version of Dokken's Tooth & Nail, the audience and his axe were both on fire... Unfortunately Joe Lynn T. closed day one without voice for the whole gig. It was a pity, and a part of people disagree the choice of the songs (D.Purple, some Rainbow Dio-era tunes & Malmsteen, and nothing from solo career or last years Frontiers projects). He used swedish young band Dynazty as backing band.
Yes, it was easy to meet Serafino walking in the area during the 2 days...He's always kind and available to answer to all fans's absurd questions...Not only fans actually, the most beautiful scene was loooking at Eclipse's singer & guitarist praying him to let them produce a next Yngwie Malmsteen record!

 Good News indeed!
Just lately I'm filled with the dread of seeing that post saying Asia is no more!

Mark, I think most of us have "held our breath" similarly at some point since the dream-come-true "XXV" reunion shows of 2006 and then 2007.

The span of time between 1986 after ASTRA to that 2006 tour announcement was a LONG time. So I think that wide gap of time without "The Original" /ASIA\ almost unwittingly programmed us to expect it all to end again abruptly.

My attitude has become - "Soak in every minute you can. Unwrap each new studio CD with relish, andeach new live CD and DVD, box set. See every show, every tour, that you can... if travel is required to see John and the band and you have the means - do it when you can."

I admire the brave drive that John, Geoff & Carl showed in the wake of Steve's retirement from /ASIA\. I still feel like there is a lot of life in this band... John's recent Twitter was indeed great news.

We can't take a moment for granted - the news that another creative project is likely on the horizon from John and the GRAVITAS lineup is exciting news!

THANK YOU GATTO for the report, I actually did fancy wanting to go, but then I did finances and I was too broke to go and then LAST IN LINE bowed out of the gig, so there ya go!   Would have been great to pick Serafino's mind and get some gossip!!!  Thanks again!

You're welcome Jorge!
It would have been very easy to pray Serafino to call Asia for the next year edition, but actually I think Wetton & co. deserve more than 1 hour concert among 6 other bands...They are superior!

With the site being dominated by these info hackers of late, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I say this as I still recall the UK gig in Philly last week. It was a nice send off, oddly sad but satisfying. Never thought I would see Eddie and John again so these last few years have been nice, not the original, but still really nice.

So as I listen to JW w/ the Les Paul Trio on my iPod, I am dying to partake in the Raw Cutz Super Pack we have heard SO MUCH about but to my dismay when I open it, just find cold cuts packed in dry ice, and lots of olive loaf I might add, bummer! Caveat emptor I say. Trolling Twitter, I happily sigh as I see John and Geoff are about to embark on penning a new Asia collection, Billy Sherwood's new gig and Geoff's ever entertaining commentary on the British elections of late. All this while trying out my new Diode Laser Hair Removal system. Dare I say I seized the motor twice with the last time, nearly making for a trip to the ER. Been told I am like Tom Selleck if he took Rogaine baths daily, Hawaiian shirts included I might add.

Oh well, I tried....come back Johan, we could use your steady hand and humor.

No recordings were done for the Gravitas Tour from what I was told.

but I bet there will be at least one when they go out again.
