A question that I ask myself everyday.

Heres the score:

West Coast shows - 12

East Coast shows - 11

South shows - 5

Midwest shows - 1

I wish we had some sort of explanation.  I know its not necessarily the band, but why no midwest love?!?!  I've been to a couple of shows at the House of Blues in Chicago and the crowd was packed and energetic as well.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasnt Chicago ignored during the Yes/Asia tour as well?  It makes me wonder if there is something bad going on between The House of Blues in Chicago and management for ASIA.  Either way - my love for John and ASIA will bring me to the beautiful shorelines of Lake Erie.

I'm simply THRILLED that they're coming to Cleavageburg.  Yay!

Jorge, Tyler, RD-I feel your pain...I always travel to see Asia with the exception of last year, and its been Chicago/Milwaukee since 2006...I'm wondering where to go this tour--east coast, west coast or TX...the venues have always filled at Park West, Chicago HOB and Pabst, so I don't get it either, they're great cities for Asia...bummer! Just have to make up my mind on where else to go and how the venues are. I'm sure there are good reasons why, maybe scheduling overall it just didn't work out. I'm wishing these cities would magically show up .

My ex used to be part of a touring band (looooong story), and he'd get so frustrated when fans complained to him about tour dates. He'd have loved to gone everywhere but he wouldn't have made enough money to pay for the travel. IMHO, it's like this - bands get booked where promoters know tickets will sell. I know I've read on here before that Asia was big business on the east and west coasts from the start in 1982. I wouldn't expect that to change now. I'm sure it's not a case of "no midwest love." C'mon, we're adults and we're aware of business, economics, etc. Personally, once again, I'm happy to have yet another year with the original Asia on tour, no matter where! If I can't get to a show, then I'll buy a DVD. I'm a big girl now. I'll be OK.

I don't think anyone is complaining, just expressing thoughts. I love to go to a different city, don't even think twice about it when I do or wonder why Asia doesn't play my city typically, I know there are factors involved...and pretty sure everyone who posts here is very grateful that Asia is touring this year and that we've been lucky to have them tour the past four years. Seeing how great they were in Chicago and the crowd reaction is why I wonder...that's totally different from complaining. Of course you can't plan a band's itinerary.

Thanks for the post Gina.  SeaLuv, I respect your views on this subject and like you, I am incredibly grateful for the last four years!  I will continue to support my favorite band by snatching up everything and anything that they put out, as I have in the past and will continue to in the future.  As an adult (A slightly immature one at times) I am just hoping for an explanation.  Maybe I have become spoiled over the years living in the third most populated area in the U.S., where economics rarely play a role in who plays a gig in Chicago.  Just the same, I will be joyfully making a trip to Cleveland to see ASIA!!!  Might even stop off to see the Pro Football and Rock n Roll Hall fame while I'm there

RD, I was just in Chicago last weekend, went uptown to the Riviera Theater and stayed downtown, you have a beautiful city!

Gina - I am glad you enjoyed the city.  I do love and feel lucky to live in the Chicagoland area!  I wish we could have met when you were in town for the ASIA shows.  We had a large Johan/guestbook showing.

I wouldn't mind a short pilgrimage to Cleveland this year, even though Rochester is the next night and it's closer for me...I'd do both shows.

And just how does 'anything' you've said pertain to "CHICAGO" ????????????

Can't attend, but will support.  The # of Chicagoland GBers, those traveling, and to past history of sell-outs ~ ~ more than one date, try three.

(((east-west coasts)))  and what followed -- unnecessary

Quoting Sir Wetton, "Don't say I (we) don't matter at all."  We're all fans and supporters.  Peace

Gina I'm going to try for at least two, I'm hopping that some of the midwest GBers can settle on one specific venue. It would be nice to get together with a group of fans from here for sure, like what happened for some with the St. Mary Le-Bow ICON show.
