An open mind, warm hands, and a little extra....time.  Not too much to ask, IMHO.

John,
You said the song Orchard of Minds was an outside song. I believe it was recorded by the group Globus. I would like to know why did you choose an outside song for one of the tracks especially OOM. Why didn't you decide to put all orginal songs that band have written on Phoenix.
I listen to the song  by Globus. It is a beautiful song and people will like your voice singing it. I'm looking forward to seeing you in Cleveland on 4/19,
it will be amost 26 years that have I seen Asia which was in 1982 inToledo, Ohio which is where I"m from. Have a good time in U.S. and I be seeing the band on 4/19.
Thanks
April

We were immensely pleased (and flabbergasted!) to receive an advance copy of Phoenix yesterday in the mail.  AAAAAAAAAAAH.  Johan, was the track order by design?  The intro to 'Never Again' takes me back to the opening of 'Heat of the Moment', and from then on I was fully immersed and engaged.  Need many more listens to digest ... and savor!

Yes,of course the track listing was by design,April.
'Orchard of Mines' was written by a very good friend of mine,Jeff Fayman---I sang some orchestral stuff for Jeff(and Globus) in Los Angeles, and was knocked out by 'OoM'. When I played the song for the others, who were suitably impressed, and we agreed to have a go at it. We wanted to try something that was atypically Asia, and I think it works great in the album's context. One of the other songs that I sang for Globus was a duet with a young woman from Holland ---the lovely Anneke van Giersbergen.

I'm sure it's because of the station.  We were just super-pleased and proud that we made it above the radar!

Johan, each time I listen I visualize different scenarios behind different lyrics.  For instance, even knowing some of the stories behind the lyrics,  I can't help but be reminded of a death 5 years ago.  Most interesting to me is that the songs about loss and hurt seem to stir up the most memories.  Having said that, there's still a great feel of peace and acceptance, even thankfulness perhaps, of the things in life we don't ask for.  No doubt my own psyche is drawing some of those conclusions, but some things seem to be universal.

I emailed the Ken Bruce show on BBC Radio 2 asking them to play a track from Phoenix but I got a reply stating that they don't have the album. I would have thought that they might have been sent an advance copy!

I called two Asia friendly stations this weekend and got the same answer, that they did not have the songs yet. One told me if they had them, they'd play it because they love the band. This is the same station that played a lunch break block of Asia and JW solo when they heard Johan had his surgery last year.

I hope to hear NA or EL soon on one of these stations. They are terrestial but very Asia friendly.

Hey Johan
Ill be bringing my son with me to see you guys at the count basie theater april 16
He is a die hard Asia fan now...because of your honesty..(BE A PLUMBER-LOL)
The boy said to me...."I checked out the lyrics to ---Never Again,--- and I think maybe the president should get a copy of this and think about it"

Johan, you have accomplished something with this song when even a 12 yr can act on concience and makes simple honest judgment on the most argued subject in humanity---Right from Wrong, Maybe Big Bush and little Bush should get a copy of this song.....
But I doubt they would be able to read the liner notes.

By the way-you going to make it out to the Meet and Greet this year?
Is steve going to accompany you as well?
Just an afterthought. See you there.
