John,

I have been listening to your interview with Radio Eskilstuna, and I am excited about your announcement that /ASIA\ will be playing in the U.S. this October!  I understand that you have little control over dates, but in your upcoming tour, please consider a stop in Atlanta.  There are a lot of Southerners who enjoy your music (my wife and I included!) and Atlanta is a centralized location where fans can drive from all over the Southeast.  Speaking selfishly, we will be moving to my new job in Columbia, SC this summer, and it would be a wonderful start for our new chapter to see you fellows playing onstage!  We also want Jennifer's brother, Robert, to see /ASIA\ for his very first show! [cool]

P.S.  I really enjoyed Gravitas as the title track for the new album, and I really approve of the message behind this song, having fought to stay married for almost 20 years!  The Closer I Get To You is a good mood piece, with layered choruses and a blistering Sam Coulson moment.  I have recommended your album to everyone who cares to listen, and we are looking forward to the day it arrives!

P.P.S.  It was nice for you to name Geddy Lee as a great bassist, especially as he thinks very highly of your work -- a lot of those '80s Rush albums (especially Power Windows) draws upon U.K. for musical inspiration.  I have seen Rush twice and met Alex & Geddy back in 1987.

Although I live on the west, aka "best" [biggrin] coast of Florida, I would definitely be up for a Southbeach road trip so see Asia!

well, since we're at it, I'll put in my 2 cents.   - I've got the perfect venue for central NC.  the Carolina Theatre in Durham.   The last go round, Asia played in Raleigh at the Memorial Auditorium.  IMHO, the venue wasn't a good match for the band.  I'm hoping the booking agent will consider the Carolina Theatre when scheduling/routing out the tour in October!!  Love that venue.

I promise I didn't put Leatherwood up to it, but of course my contingent always welcomes an Atlanta visit from Asia -- we've been there every time, and always will be!

I am weighing in, predictably, (and enthusiastically!) to offer a (firth of...?) "FIFTH" vote, in favor of /ASIA\ booking a return date in the Sunshine State!!

Florida has many, many, MANY people who have transplanted themselves here from the (colder) climes of progressive rock's (and John's!) reliable US fan base in the Northeast.

Fans from Baltimore & DC? Philly? New York? Jersey? Boston & New England? Montreal, and Toronto, even? Answer: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and YES.

FLORIDA today now serves as "home" to a "lot" of those Nor'easter fans who bought ASIA and ALPHA in 1982 and '83... (hence, the *SOLD OUT* Clearwater / Tampa Bay "X X X" show in 2012! And "near" sell out in Orlando!).

*Florida fans - cross your fingers, fold your hands in prayer, call in favors, just DO what must be done LOL. We need "Valkyrie" live...

I agree.  Personally, I would like to see (hear) Asia perform at the remodeled Mahaffey Theater, located next to Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg, Fl.  I saw Don Henley perform there a couple of years ago and the sound and show was fantastic.  I think it would be a perfect venue for Asia.

I "SIXTH" (???) the S. Florida request!  WITH a caveat -- the hockey rink in Ft. Lauderdale, while convenient to get to, sounds crappy.  Please consider the Kravis Center or Cruzan Ampitheater, both in Palm Beach Cty.

Maybe even the Pompano Beach Amphitheater?  Great easterly breeze close to the ocean...

I would even take the Hard Rock in Hollywood?

John, I hope Asia performs in San Diego this tour. If it's at a venue with no age restriction, I'm planning to bring along my daughter Asia as she was named for your band. It will be her first concert [smile]

I guess San Diego "is" south, somewhat... LOL.

But when Americans talk of life in the "SOUTH", I don't think its images of California that spring to mind... but I DO hope you and Asia (your daughter) get to Asia (the band) together!

(John, I think that could be a cool bonus feature for an upcoming live DVD. The moment a girl meets her namesake LOL. "ASIA... meet Asia.")

SPEAKING of tour dates for /ASIA\...

Douglas,

I have had tix for an October show in Annapolis for a week now.

So I hope that another SUPERSTORM does not come up the coast and cancel another show like in 2012.  [frown]

Brody, are you serious??

How did I miss THAT?

I wasn't aware that 'any' /ASIA\ shows for the US had been announced yet... (much less gone on sale!)

I am happy for you M'landers though. That was a huge shame about that storm. (And Ram's Head Tavern was SOLD-OUT. So you know that decision was not made lightly.)

I have family (in-laws) in western Maryland and the Eastern Shore. I love your state!

Annapolis is on my very short list of most beloved American towns. The view from Pusser's over the incoming boats from the Chesapeake is just so stunning...
