Greetings, John and fellow Guestbook subscribers!

As of yesterday, I just finished my final day of classes as a lecturer at West Virginia University, where I have been employed for almost 10 years.  Budget cuts have ended the Humanities Program, rendering me "redundant" as my cousins would say in Britain.  My last lecture covered the final months of WWII and touched upon the ramifications of the Cold War.  And then, in each of my four classes, I ended about 5 minutes early, passed out some chocolates, and played Till We Meet Again over the PA system.  It makes for a splendid occasion!

I chose this song because it sums up everything I feel about my time at WVU, including winning a few bouts with the demon, Depression.  Thanks, John, for writing so many songs that inspire and sustain others!  Fortunately, I have a new position with a prominent online university program waiting to be finalized.  When this job materializes in a few weeks, I will let everyone here know the good news!

Take care everyone!

Your way of dealing with a major change in your life is inspiring. I'm sure you will be remembered fondly by many of your students. Teachers make a mark on this world that they don't often realize.

Best of luck in your new endeavor. And keep us posted.

Jeffrey, I second Sue's remarks.  I wish you great good fortune.  Now I've got Slim Pickins riding a nuclear bomb in my head...

Professor Leatherwood,

I salute you tonight, good sir. What a cool gesture! What certainly must be a reflective time for you, was fashioned really into a moment for "them". Your students will most certainly never forget the moment.

John has been heard a lot around my house this week. My 15-year old daughter Alexa has just begun taking lessons with a vocal coach (to audition for the lead singing role in "Romeo And Juliet" at her high school). And the song she's been serenading us with in the house for the past 3 days??

"THE CLOSER I GET TO YOU" - track 3 from GRAVITAS.

Over... and over... and over again. LOL.

Thanks, John. (Could you maybe make the NEXT /ASIA\ album just... slightly "less" hooky??)

(P.S. I'm only kidding about the "next album" part, of course. It really IS fascinating seeing how this new batch of /ASIA\ songs is beginning to weave its way into the family's subconscious now, after a month of playing it in the car, the background doing house chores, etc etc. Radio USED to deliver songs into the fabric of our memories like that. I'm grateful this album is wearing so WELL with repeat listens.)

Agent /A\ (Douglas),

I forgot to respond to this message -- it has been a whirlwind of activity!  Yet, we are still grooving to some JW music as we prepare to move to SC.  Captivity is in my car stereo, and my wife is playing her /ASIA\ playlist while we pack boxes.  We have been let down by some recent progressive rock recordings -- not naming names -- but /ASIA\ keeps on improving in some way with each album.

Which other prog-rock bands do you like?

A real Asia Anthem and one that seems logical to wrap live shows up with!

Yer damn straight!  Shorten up the the obvious encore song (just a bit), then expand on TWMA (quite a bit). Yes,  that would work.
