As Lance pointed out....Sonny's BBQ has the best brisket south of Kansas City! That, some bourbon mashed sweet potatoes, corn bread and a Lone Star. Now that's a meal! I wouldn't take a cholesterol test for a week after that one though.

NOTHING beats the brisket in KC.  Of course, I'm a bit biased.

I knew I'd get a bite on that declaration. Being from NJ, what the hell do I know!? KC is want of my favs though. Can't remember the steak joint where Harry truman used to eat all the time. That was my fav when travelling there.

Now if you want to talk gyros, hot dogs and the best place to bury a mobster, I'm your guy.

Harry Truman's fav for steak was Hereford House if I remember correctly.  I should know everything about the man this since I went to Truman High School and lived down the road from his library and house, but I didn't pay much attention to the details back then.  Ye gads!

TY...Arthur Bryant's is BBQ.  Everyone has their own taste but my fav is Rosedale BBQ (talk about a dive).  Their burnt ends are to die for!  Mmm, I feel a trip to KC coming on!!!

I sat in the booth with the Truman plaque. They say Bess Truman still haunts the place. I felt someone grab my ass in the booth. Headily, I thought it may have been the virginal spirit of Bess. The alternative was the Japanese businessman who resembled Mako that I was taking out for dinner. Yecccck!

Johan - I'm sure ol' wildman Ted Nugent could provide the cardiac kids some good vension, his ranch is just down the road around Waco. He could UPS some up to ya'll.

Are you guys flying out of DFW for NM? I guess you'd have to given the timing between shows. Supposedly, if you could drive it, you could go through Vernon, TX (boyhood home of Roy Orbison), Turkey, TX (home of Texas Swing great Bob Wills), Lubbock, TX (Buddy Holly), then Littlefield (Waylon Jennings). A Texas Music History Journey it'd be, one that I have done several times.

BTW, the other day I saw a car coming down Ranger Hill with longhorns on it. Only in Tejas!

Roy Orbison's musical career began in Wink. His first band was the Wink Westerners. That was before he got his Saturday morning tv show (The Hub Jamboree/ The Hub being a furniture store whose owner thought the boy had promise) on KMID Odessa.
