Both Asia and KC are playing NYC tonight...

KC is starting at 8 at the Best Buy, which is located at 44th and 7th.   Asia is playing at BB Kings which is located at 42nd and 7th,  a mere two blocks away.  Asia begins at  7:30.

With a half hour difference between the shows,  John could conceivably arrive at Best Buy in time for the KC encore.  KC has been ending their shows with Starless and using Schizoid Man as the encore, but perhaps for one night they will switch the two songs and have John onstage for an encore of Starless...

Ah well, I can dream,  can’t I?

Yes, WiltonCarpet. You can dream.

Ha ha!

An example of how an /ASIA\-meets-King Crimson dream DID come true... summer 2009, when I saw /ASIA\ were not returning to Florida - and chose "Philadelphia" as a fanbase I would like to be a part of.

My OWN dreams that came true that night...
1- Seeing /ASIA\ perform onstage on the SAME bill with YES.
2- Seeing /ASIA\ and YES both play in *Philly*, a town with a legendary love for progressive rock.
3- Seeing Ian McDonald join John Wetton onstage to perform a KING CRIMSON song together. Whew!! That rapturous Philly crowd was like a soccer crowd in Brazil...LOUD with approval!! That performance (with complete flute solo & outro) of ITCOTCK blew me away!!
4- A film crew recorded the /ASIA\ set that night. Again - I couldn't BELIEVE this was happening while I witnessed it. My small moment of an /ASIA\ show (later) captured for an official /ASIA\ live release (SPIRIT OF THE NIGHT).

You can dream, WiltonCarpet.

I wish you luck. Good things, since that JW Fan Convention at the turn of the 2000s, never seem "impossible" anymore...

Well,  that sounds like quite an evening!    I'm from Philly originally,  and I can confirm we are very loyal to our prog rock heroes...

As far as my original post is concerned,  it appears that KC did alter its set on the 20th to play Starless as the encore instead of Schizoid Man,  however there is no indication that JW appeared with KC that night.  I'm sure John would have tweeted about it if he had done so.

It is interesting that KC would alter its setlist in this way for just one night of their tour... Makes me wonder if RF contacted JW and said,  "If the timing works out and you are willing and able to join us for Starless, please do so."

Given that there is probably a Meet and Greet after the Asia show, my guess is no.
